4. Materials are sent for reclaim
The sorted components are sent to recyclers and/or refineries who specialize in reclamation.
What we do
Picking up your electronics is only the first step of the recycling process. After your electronics are picked up, that's where the magic of recycling begins!
List of Services
-
Disassemble and SortList Item 1
The first step is to completely disassemble the electronics down to their basic components. The components retrieved depend on the electronics we're working on but in terms of a desktop computer, the components include:
- power supplies
- graphics cards
- motherboards
- media drives
- data drives
- batteries
- memory
- CPUs
During the disassembly process, we sort the components as well as the metals and plastics they contain. These metals and plastics are also recycled.
-
Data DestructionList Item 2
ALL data drives are physically destroyed beyond repair. This ensures that there is no way to recover any information. The most common forms of data drives are:
- Hard Disk Drives (HDD)
- Solid State Drives (SSD)
- USB/Flash Drives
- Memory Cards
Although we destroy all data drives, we offer a Certificate of Destruction that can be emailed or mailed for $3.00.
-
Material ReclaimList Item 3
After we are done disassembling and sorting components as much as possible, they are then ready for the next phase of the reclamation of materials. Most will go to a metal recycler and eventually to a refinery where the different metals are melted and collected.
Other materials, such as the plastics, are sent to a different recyling facility to reclaim as much as possible.
